World Tour Part One

So i've been a little lax on the website recently because there has just been too much happening!

After our amazing debut season of Bunker I headed for the Las Vegas Club in Auckland, NZ to perform a brand new act of dark clown/sideshow/striptease, which went down a treat!

Then I continued East to Virada Cultural in Sao Paūlo, Brazil to perform with Melbourne's own anarchic Snuff Puppets at one of South America's largest arts events - that was wild!

Retracing my steps via Melbourne, I've been based in London since June, and have had the pleasure of enjoying time at Strawberry Fair, Cambridge; Brighton Fringe; and Download Metal Festival to name a few.

Mainly though I was preparing for Glastonbury Arts and Music Festival where I was privileged to join the team at the Circus Big Top as their new compere. MCing a major venue at the world's largest festival was a total headspin and the festival went past in a flash, or perhaps a downpour - i've never seen so much mud!

After that The Great Gordo Gamsby and I travelled to Germany for the Cabaret at the End of the World as part of Fusion Festival - an incredible anarchist event put on in an old Soviet Airbase. Great shows and great crew!

And now The Syndicate is preparing for a London season of BUNKER in collaboration with The Bureau of Silly Ideas in Brixton. See the sidebar for more details, or check out the facebook page here ticketing information.

Here's my new favourite photo of my rollerskate-straitjacket escape! See you out there in the world!

2015 Highlights!

What a year it’s been! Here’s some of the highlights!

I started it off premiering The Syndicate’s new show BUNKER at Woodford Folk Festival. That show will be playing in Melbourne next April before touring through the UK/Europe.

Australian summer was full of excellent shows including a beautiful gig hosting Multicultural Arts Victoria’s community celebration of culture – performing alongside a multitude of talented and fascinating artists in my home suburb of Coburg was a real treat!

Glitch Productions put on another season of our wildly successful comedy tent at Adelaide Fringe – The Imaginarium. 5 weeks of hot sun, great shows and fairy floss went past in a blur!

It was my pleasure to reappear at the annual Panama music festival in Tasmania with an incredible crew of artists and musicians. My daughter and I camped out in the native bushland and saw an elusive platypus!

The first World Sideshow Festival took place in Ballarat at the beginning of winter and The Syndicate presented our self titled show, which is a rollicking run through satirical sideshow, nudity and danger. We got called “The Young Ones of Sideshow!” Best quote ever!

Glitch Productions put on a new club night at 24 Moons called The House of Invisible Strings which featured performers trying new and experimental material. Things got weird really quick and there were some fantastic and unexpected moments!

Then commenced a massive adventure for me as I undertook my first Captain Ruin tour to Europe and the UK. I was very fortunate to receive an Artstart grant to support professional development and I used it to travel to half a dozen arts festivals around Europe to watch contemporary physical theatre and saw some incredible and inspiring shows.

I also filled a long held ambition and performed at Glastonbury, the world’s largest arts and music festival. A quarter of a million people camped in the fields of Avalon – magickal country and an absolutely mind blowing festival. And they put my photo in the program! Pretty chuffed by that! I didn’t waste any time - performing ten shows over four days in different venues around the festival. I’ll definitely be back on that one next year!

Through the middle of the year I performed as Captain Ruin all around Europe, appearing at Lachte festival in Berlin, the Edinburgh Fringe, and the international home of burlesque in Hamburg - Queen Calavera!

After a long haul flight back home from Paris in September I got straight on another plane and flew to Karratha deep in the red desert of Western Australia to perform at the Red Earth Arts festival which was a very strange contrast but a great gig!

I let myself have a few quieter months at the end of the year but still managed to fit in some fun gigs including the annual Scumfest music festival in Adelaide, hosting the Melbourne Tattoo Convention, a Sea Shepherd fundraiser, and the Nightmare Before Christmas ball at 24 Moons.

Currently I’m performing at an excellent new nightclub in Auckland called Las Vegas, which has got incredible seedy David Lynch vibes, all vintage wallpaper and red velvet curtains.

And I’m making big plans for 2016! BUNKER will be playing in April and The Syndicate and Captain Ruin will be touring Europe and the UK mid year. So stay tuned for more updates soon!

Thanks for all the fun times folks it’s been a pleasure meeting and working with so many beautiful people around the world. I feel humbled and grateful for all the incredible opportunities and it’s my pleasure to keep making people gasp, laugh and cheer in return.

Lots of love to you all and all the best for the new year!
